Reminder: The 2019 Call for MIPS Promoting Interoperability Measures and Improvement Activities Closes July 1

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) wants to remind you that the deadline to submit Promoting Interoperability measures and Improvement Activities for consideration for future years of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) is Monday, July 1.
The MIPS Annual Call for Measures and Activities process allows clinicians, professional associations and medical societies that represent clinicians, researchers, consumer groups and others to identify and submit measures and activities. We are currently accepting submissions for:
  • EHR measures for the Promoting Interoperability performance category
  • Activities for the Improvement Activities performance category
How to Submit Measures and Activities
If you’re interested in proposing new measures and activities for MIPS, review the Call for Measures and Activities Overview fact sheet (zip) and fill out and submit the following forms during the specified submission periods:
  • Improvement Activities Performance Category (submission period ends July 1, 2019 for 2021 activities)
  • Promoting Interoperability Performance Category (submission period ends July 1, 2019 for 2021 measures)

Registration for 2019 CMS Web Interface and CAHPS for MIPS Survey Reporting Closes on Monday

Groups and Virtual Groups Must Register by July 1, 2019 to Use the CMS Web Interface and/or Administer the CAHPS for MIPS Survey
Registration is required for groups and virtual groups that intend to use the CMS Web Interface and/or administer the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) for Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Survey for 2019.
  • Groups and virtual groups must have 25 or more clinicians (including at least one MIPS eligible clinician) to register for the CMS Web Interface.
  • Groups and virtual groups with 2 or more clinicians (including at least one MIPS eligible clinician) can register for the CAHPS for MIPS Survey.
To register, please log in to the Quality Payment Program website. The registration period closes on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 5:00pm EDT. Refer to the 2019 Registration Guide for the CMS Web Interface and CAHPS for MIPS Survey for step-by-step instructions. As a reminder, you will need a QPP account and the Security Official role for your group or virtual group (see below for further information).
Groups and virtual groups planning to collect and submit 2019 MIPS quality data in other ways  – for example, submitting MIPS Clinical Quality Measures through a Qualified Registry – and that are not planning to administer the CAHPS for MIPS survey do not need to register.
Please note, if your group reported quality data for the MIPS 2018 performance period via the CMS Web Interface, CMS automatically registered your group to report quality data via the CMS Web Interface for the 2019 performance period. You may edit or cancel your registration at any time during the registration period. Automatic registration does not apply to the CAHPS for MIPS Survey.
Note: Groups that participate in a Shared Savings Program ACO are not required to register or report; the Shared Savings Program ACO is required to report quality measures on behalf of participating eligible clinicians for purposes of MIPS.
Don’t have a QPP account and/or Security Official role? Start the process now. Refer to the QPP Access User Guide and this video for step-by-step instructions.
