More people have access to sick leave now than 10 years ago
More people now have access to paid sick leave than a decade ago, according to new CDC survey data. In 2009, some 58% of people said they had paid sick leave, but that increased to nearly 63% in 2018. The majority of people working in government jobs had the benefit, compared to 40% of those in agriculture, fishing, and forestry jobs. Still, this was an improvement from 2009, when only about a quarter of people in those three industries said they had sick leave. And more workers in construction, mining, and wholesale and retail also reported having the benefit than a decade ago.
