Head of MIT Media Lab quits PureTech board
The earthquake that rocked the MIT Media Lab over the weekend gave biotech a little rattle as well.
Shortly after Joi Ito, the director of the venerable institution, announced he would step down in wake of news that he took money from Jeffrey Epstein and concealed it, PureTech Health said Ito would also resign from his role as chairman of the board at the Boston-based company.
Ito took $525,000 for the MIT lab from Epstein, the disgraced financier who killed himself last month in jail following charges of sex trafficking, and more than $1 million for other investment funds. A spokeswoman for PureTech said the company had no interactions with Epstein, and is not aware of any investment in the biotech firm.
