New studies will test Apple Watch on hearing, mobility, and women’s health

Apple announced yesterday it was launching three new studies to test the Apple Watch’s ability to measure various health issues. A women’s health study will use data from the Apple Watch’s newly introduced menstrual tracking feature to assess conditions like infertility. The hearing health study will rely on a new feature that monitors hearing to assess how everyday noises impact long-term hearing. The mobility study will look at heart rate, walking pace, and other data to better understand any links to cardiovascular health and overall quality of life. Apple will be partnering with leading research organizations, including the NIH and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health to conduct the studies. Interested participants can sign up using a new research app that will be available later this year.
