Meet the insulin advocates attending tonight's State of the Union

There’s no fewer than thirteen people with diabetes attending this year's State of the Union address as Democratic lawmakers' honored guests. It’s the latest sign that insulin, above all else, has become the party's signature drug pricing talking point. But it’s also testament to the tireless advocacy of the men and women who have shared their own stories and made this a national issue. None of the advocates who spoke with me were handpicked by some advocacy group or by Democratic campaign staff. They are regular Americans, some just teens, that spoke up at a town hall or sent an angry email and got noticed.
For more on how insulin will be center stage at tonight’s address, check out my story here.
