Benefitting from the country’s strong economic growth and rapid adoption of innovation and technology, China’s pharmaceutical market has flourished to become the second largest in the world. Many of its foreign-trained scientists, under the government’s Thousand Talents Plan, have returned home to found their own companies, developing novel homegrown medicines and training the next generation of scientists.

STAT, in collaboration with news and data analytics company The Wire, compiled a list of 20 of the most important executives and companies in China’s biotech industry.

As report author Damian Garde explains, while such a list is inherently subjective, the executives profiled in this report are undoubtedly shaping China’s fast-growing pharmaceutical market.
