Fogarty's Global Infectious Disease Research Training Program aims to engender scientific knowledge and skills in low- and middle-income country (LMIC) trainees that will enhance capacity at LMIC institutions to conduct research directly related to prevention, treatment and control of infectious diseases causing major morbidity and mortality.

The NIH Common Fund, along with its partner NIH Institutes, Centers and Offices, plans to issue funding opportunity announcements to support Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa). They are expected to be published in Summer 2020, with expected application due dates by November 2020.
