COVID-19 Nursing Home Data Now Available – Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has posted the first set of COVID-19 data based on information submitted by nursing homes nationwide to CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). This set includes data provided through May 31 from more than 13,600 facilities, or 88% of nursing homes in the U.S. Included in this data are the number of COVID-19 confirmed and suspected cases and deaths among residents and staff, availability of personal protective equipment, ventilator capacity, access to testing, and potential staffing shortages. This data strengthens local and national COVID-19 surveillance and informs national prevention strategies and recommendations to protect nursing home residents and staff.
