New podcast series looks at rehab industry in the U.S.

The Center for Investigative Reporting podcast "Reveal" just launched a new series looking into addiction rehabilitation in the U.S. and how it has evolved into a system that often involves unpaid labor. The eight-part series examines how a cult leader in the 1960s first introduced the concept of putting those seeking addiction treatment to work as a cure for their heroin use disorder, and how that concept has now become a multimillion dollar industry for those running these centers, while thousands of those with addiction disorders are trapped in these programs.
