Trump, Pence to talk Covid-19 vaccine efforts today
Today, President Trump is touring Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies, the North Carolina company manufacturing Novavax’s Covid-19 vaccine candidate. Trump is expected to talk about the manufacturing and distribution plans for Covid-19 vaccines once they’ve been cleared by regulators.
Meanwhile, Vice President Pence will be visiting the University of Miami today to deliver a kick-off speech for the Phase 3 trials of Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine candidate. The university is recruiting 1,000 participants as part of a nationwide study. Meanwhile, Moderna announced yesterday that BARDA awarded it up to $472 million in additional support to advance the vaccine, bringing the total federal funding for the biotech's effort close to $1 billion.
