Lecture Summary:
This talk will provide a brief overview of the trends in opioid use and opioid overdose deaths, including the waves of different opioids that have been misused in the last 20-25 years. The talk will address treatment options for opioid use disorder, with a review of the currently approved FDA medications. The talk will also discuss challenges in treating this condition and highlight the need to be reconceptualizing approaches to treating persons with OUD.
