In This Issue

Here's hoping that everyone is preparing for the official kick off of summer and remembers the reason for Memorial Day is not to break out the grills, but to honor those brave Americans who fought and died defending and protecting our freedoms. In other words, it is For Those Who Gave All (FTWGA).

Certified EHR Proposed Rule

Earlier this week, CMS and ONC published a new proposed rule that would extend Stage 2 of the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs by one year and allow Stage 3 to begin in 2017. The proposed rule also would allow providers to use 2011 Edition Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT) or a combination of 2011 and 2014 Edition CEHRT for the EHR reporting period in 2014 . The proposed rule includes a chart that identifies the CEHRT and stage options that would be available to providers who are not able to fully implement 2014 CEHRT systems in 2014. Please take time to read the proposed rule and submit your comments.  The comment period ends at 5 p.m. EDT on July 21, 2014. Read more in the joint ONC/CMS news release.
