'Sesame Street' launches childhood homelessness initiative
"Sesame Street" is launching a new effort to help kids cope with homelessness, which is often tied to prolonged stress, trauma, and other issues that can impact a child's physical and mental health. It's estimatedthat more than 2.5 million children across the U.S. experiencing homelessness. The show is hoping to offer support to kids with the help of Lily, a 7-year-old Muppet whose family is living with friends on Sesame Street after losing their home. "Sesame" is also releasing storybooks, videos, and interactives for families, along with tools for teachers, doctors, and social workers.
