Blinding or information control in diagnosis: could it reduce errors in clinical decision-making?
Cognitive biases can affect clinical decision making. This review discusses the forensic sciences tactic of limiting contextual information to reduce misleading data that can surface biases and contribute to diagnostic error. The authors highlight test interpretation as one area particularity vulnerable to this problem and recommend seeking second opinions to avert biases related to contextual data.
