California and 20 other states sue over Trump administration changes to Title X
California’s attorney general filed a federal lawsuit yesterday to block the Trump administration's planned changes to the Title X family planning program set to take effect in May. The state is home to more than a quarter of the patients served nationwide by Title X, which provides birth control, STD prevention, and cancer screenings. Under the revised rule, any clinics that provide or refer patients for abortion would be ineligible for Title X funds. A coalition of 20 states plus Washington, D.C., is expected to file a separate suit today, and more parties have promised to challenge the rule.
