Maybe not everyone is fleeing the U.K.

Maybe not everyone is fleeing the U.K.

The news out of Britain has been biblically dour in recent weeks, but at least there’s this: Biotech funding is on the upswing.

According to the nation’s biotech trade group, private drug companies raised $240 million from December through February, a 35 percent jump over the same period in the prior year. That puts the U.K. on pace to break its previous record for biotech venture capital, the U.K. BioIndustry Association wrote in a report published yesterday.

That doesn’t change the fact that the European Medicines Agency has left London for Amsterdam, and it doesn’t address the decline of clinical research in the U.K. But it’s something.
