Learn How University of Utah Health Uses Data to Understand Financial Trends, Improve Outcomes
University of Utah Health is featured this week in a series of four real-world case studies that examine how learning health systems operate in practice.  Based in Salt Lake City, University of Utah Health is an academic health center with four hospitals, 12 community clinics and 23 regional partners serving patients in Utah and five surrounding states.  The University of Utah Health’s enterprise data warehouse is a central feature of its mature data operation and allows leadership to obtain insights that inform clinical practice. “We have so much clinical and financial data about our healthcare system that there’s really no reason we should ever make decisions independent of good data,” said Charlton Park, M.B.A., chief financial officer and chief analytics officer. AHRQ developed these case studies to help health system executives better understand what it takes to create a learning health system and the value of making investments in transformation.  Learn more about AHRQ’s support of Learning Health Systems.
