Your blood type affects your risk of Covid-19, Chinese study finds

As the Covid-19 outbreak spreads across the globe, data collected from patients in China show a pattern that could be useful for disease risk management: People with blood type A appear to be more susceptible to the novel coronavirus, according to a recent study reported by the South China Morning Post.

Based on blood samples of more than 2,000 patients infected with the novel coronavirus, Chinese medical researchers found that patients with blood type A have a higher rate of infection and tend to develop more severe symptoms, while people with blood type O seem to have the lowest risk of Covid-19 infection.

Researchers cautioned however, that these findings are still preliminary and a larger sample size is needed to corroborate the study results.
