Peer Support Workers across the Continuum of Crisis Services

Thursday | April 23, 2020 | 2:00–3:00 p.m. EDT

SAMHSA’s Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy (BRSS TACS) invites you to join national experts in a conversation about approaches to providing peer support across the continuum of crisis response services. This event will focus on peer-run respite programs, warm lines, and peer support services within hospital emergency departments. Presentations will cover program models and their successes, as well as best and promising practices for implementation.

Peer support workers are uniquely positioned to connect, build trust, and engage with people experiencing crises related to substance use disorder or mental illness. In emergency departments, for example, peer support workers offer a variety of supports to people experiencing overdoses and their families. Peer-run warm lines and peer respite programs are key elements of the continuum of care for people with mental illness, and a growing evidence base suggests that these services may reduce hospitalization rates for many experiencing mental health crises.

Join us for this free, interactive virtual event moderated by Devin Reaves, BRSS TACS Subject Matter Expert.
