Resuming physical activity a top priority for those with heart valve disease

3,400-person survey from the patient resource website HeartValveSurgery.com finds that nearly half of those with heart valve disease opt for treatment in an effort to get back to active living. Heart valve disease can cause shortness of breath and fatigue, among other symptoms, and can cause more serious complications including stroke. Of those who had a heart valve procedure, 82% said regularly exercising was the one activity they were able to enjoy again, while 46% said they were able to resume work. A third of those who sought care for their heart valve disease reported getting treatment within a year of being diagnosed, while a quarter of respondents said they wished they had sought treatment sooner.

Correction: Yesterday's item on wearables and apps for Covid-19 misrepresented how dire the situation here in the U.S. is. The U.S. has been consistently reporting 1,000 or more deaths per day.
