Assessing Spring and Summer Research Activity Levels at NIAID

The number of research project grant applications submitted to NIAID from March 1 to July 31, 2020, far exceeds the volume of applications received by NIAID over the same period of time in 2017, 2018, and 2019, respectively.

Opportunities and Resources

Current career development awardees are eligible to apply for limited competition exploratory and developmental research grants and small research grants.
A new opportunity supports research on interventions to improve health in Native American populations; NIAID is most interested in HIV transmission and prevention research.

In The News

Review score is not the only factor that determines whether an application will be funded, as NIH institutes and centers differ in the percentage of incoming applications they are able to fund given varied budgets and volumes of incoming applications.
NIH will consider accepting applications after the submission deadline from investigators whose institutions close due to a natural disaster. Your application's lateness should not exceed the number of days that your institution was officially closed.

Advice Corner

ClinicalTrials.gov shares clinical trial registration and result records with the public, so you can search for other investigators’ projects and find a wealth of information.
