Pediatricians often dismiss patient families over vaccine refusal or delays

How do pediatricians deal with patient families who refuse routine vaccinations or opt for a different schedule than recommended? A new survey of more than 300 doctors reveals that most of them work in offices with policies that dismiss patient families from the practice over vaccine refusal or spreading out vaccines. More than a third of physicians said they themselves dismiss families who opt out of essential vaccines or opt to spread out the schedule in which they're administered. Families were much more often dismissed from practices for refusing vaccinations than for spreading them out. And of those doctors who said they've dismissed families, 1 in 5 said families change their mind about refusing vaccines once they're made aware of the dismissal policy.
