Predicting human oral drug exposure remains a major challenge in preclinical drug development. Intestinal absorption, first-pass metabolism, and drug-drug interactions can all influence systemic exposure, while conventional in vitro and animal models may not fully capture the interplay between these processes.
In this webinar, Yassen Abbas and Joseph Broomfield will discuss how integrated gut-liver microphysiological systems (MPS) can provide mechanistic insights into oral drug disposition, including bioavailability, metabolic variability, and drug-drug interactions. They will also explore how MPS data can support physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling and improve translation to clinical studies.
