High Cancer Rates In Iowa Due Mostly To Known Risk Factors, Report Shows
According to Iowa Public Radio, the state-funded report showed that 76% of the state's excess cases could be explained when controlled for risk factors like age, race, and alcohol and tobacco use, among others. This suggests that "prevention efforts targeting modifiable risk factors would reduce the number of excess cases of cancer in Iowa," the state with one of the highest rates of cancer in the country.
