This 49-page report captures lessons learned from the 2017 Hurricane Harvey housing assistance mission, and makes 18 policy recommendations at all levels of government with the primary objective of better protecting Texans in advance of the next disaster, and improving subsequent recovery efforts. It includes an emphasis on policy proposals focused on protecting homes and businesses against future disaster risk.

This 20-page paper, which grew out of discussions at a two-day research workshop focused on famines and adolescents, explores some of what is and is not known about the impacts of humanitarian situations on adolescents’ lives. It considers humanitarian emergencies broadly, including but not limited to situations of famine, armed conflict, and natural disasters. In the Arab region, exploring the effect of exposure to civil war on adolescent and child health, the probability of stunting was shown to increase in high-conflict areas.
