ACLU heads to court in Jane Doe abortion case

The ACLU is headed to court this morning to make arguments in a lawsuit over the Trump administration's policy of preventing immigrant teens in federal custody from obtaining abortions. Last year, the ACLU filed a lawsuit on behalf of Jane Doe, a pregnant 17-year-old immigrant who was blocked from having an abortion while being held in federal custody. She eventually obtained an abortion, but the lawsuit moved forward as a class-action case. In March, a judge blocked the policy from being implemented while the fight plays out in court. The administration appealed the temporary ban. The D.C. circuit court of appeals will hear arguments in that challenge today.
