2019 Award Competition: Center for Advancing Point of Care Technologies in Heart, Lung, Blood and Sleep Disorders - Pilot Funding Opportunity

The University of Massachusetts’ Center for Advancing Point of Care Technologies (CAPCaT) in Heart, Lung, Blood, and Sleep Diseases—supported in part by NCCIH—announces an award solicitation focused on developing, adapting, or validating technologies that can be rapidly applied to heart, lung, blood, or sleep disorders, with additional interest in projects that incorporate complementary and integrative health approaches. Awards will be up to $100,000 paid over 12 months. Pre-proposals must be submitted through the POCTRN online system and are due Friday, March 1, 2019. I-Corps at NIH

I-Corps is an entrepreneurship training program designed specifically for small businesses in biomedical industries. Eligibility is limited to companies with active Phase I SBIR or STTR award from any of the 22 participating NIH and CDC institutes and centers. To be considered for the April 2019 cohort, submit your application by Monday, January 28, 2019, 5 p.m. ET. HHS Niche Assessment Program

Designed to help small businesses strategically position their technology in the marketplace, the Niche Assessment Program is free to eligible awardees and provides an in-depth report on potential applications of participants’ technology. All active HHS (NIH, CDC, and FDA) SBIR/STTR Phase I awardees and Phase I Fast-Track awardees (by grant or contract) are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until all slots are filled. The next cohort will begin in early October 2019.

Niche provides market insight and data that can be used to help small businesses strategically position their technology in the marketplace. The results of this program can help small businesses develop their commercialization plan for their Phase II application, and be exposed to potential partners. Services are provided by Foresight Science & Technology of Providence, RI.
