Officials unveil new report on drug control strategy
The administration also just unveiled the National Drug Control Strategy, a report typically released every year that outlines the government's approach to drug policy. And while President Trump pledged to make the opioid epidemic a top priority when he took office, the Office of National Drug Control Policy didn't put out the report in 2017 or 2018. The blueprint was released just hours after Jim Carroll was sworn in as the new head of ONDCP. It doesn't include much in the way of new policies, but emphasizes priorities the Trump administration has already touched on, such as expanding access to addiction treatment and curbing first-time opioid prescriptions.
