Moms to march on Washington
The third annual March for Moms is happening in Washington tomorrow afternoon and aims to bring attention to many issues affecting mothers in the U.S., including worsening rates of maternal mortality, health care access, and family and maternal leave policies. Just this week, the CDC released data saying that some 60% of maternal deaths are preventable, and in recent weeks, several states have raised challenges to the Trump administration’s proposed changes to the Title X program that, among other things, provides funding to health care facilities that serve low-income women. Leaders from the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine are scheduled to speak at tomorrow’s rally, as is Planned Parenthood President Dr. Leana Wen.
