CMS: Beyond the Policy Episode 4: Episode 4: A Throwback to the 2019 HIMSS Conference

Today, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is posting its 4^th episode of the Beyond the Policy podcast which highlights portions of Administrator Seema Verma’s 2019 Healthcare Information Management Systems Society, or HIMSS speech and audience reaction. It shares some of the key perspectives from attendees at the HIMSS Annual Conference, in response to the Administrator’s two keynote presentations on the agency’s vision for the future and its focus on interoperability. With the recent closing of the comment period on the Interoperability proposed rule, the agency is looking forward to moving forward on improving patient access to their medical records. CMS also held several educational sessions and engaged with a high-volume of attendees at its exhibit booth at HIMSS. This allowed CMS subject matter experts to discuss the agency’s quality programs and initiatives, as well as seek input from clinicians, health care organizations, health IT vendors, and others in the health care community on how to enhance these programs and initiatives.
