4 in 10 parents would change their child’s doctor if the office allowed unvaccinated kids
A small nationwide survey finds that some 40% of parents would likely switch their children’s primary care provider if the office also saw children whose parents had refused vaccines. Researchers asked parents about the policies of their children’s doctor and 40% of parents said the office currently had a rule that required all kids to be vaccinated. Some 6% said their physician does not allow unvaccinated children in the same waiting area as vaccinated kids. A little over 40% of parents also say they would want to be in the know if other parents visiting the same physician refused vaccinations, while a third of parents said they didn’t want to know. Notably, a quarter of parents believe that physicians should provide care regardless of the parents’ vaccination beliefs. The same percentage believe physicians should ask parents who refuse vaccines to find another provider.
