AMA asks tech platforms for action on vaping
As health authorities scramble to determine what’s causing a spate of sometimes fatal vaping-associated lung injuries, the focus has turned to cartridges obtained from informal sources like dealers or friends. Now, the American Medical Association has written to five e-commerce companies asking them to do more to halt sales of illicit vaping materials. “We urge you to actively enforce your existing policies to keep illicit products off the market and out of the hands of people who are, often unwittingly, putting their lives at risk,” AMA CEO James Madara wrote to executives at Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Microsoft.
