This eight-page document describes the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s approval of the marketing of a rapid diagnostic test (RDT) to detect Ebola virus antigens (proteins) in human blood from certain living individuals and samples from certain recently deceased individuals suspected to have died from Ebola (cadaveric oral fluid). The OraQuick Ebola Rapid Antigen Test is the first rapid diagnostic test the FDA has allowed to be marketed in the U.S. for Ebola virus disease (EVD). (PDF)

This 18-page research paper assesses progress on antimicrobial resistance against the recommendations of the 2016 Review on Antimicrobial Resistance to identify opportunities for further action and key obstacles that need to be overcome. Although the Review has had a global impact as an advocacy tool and in helping to stimulate a number of new initiatives, there has been very little progress on its central and most expensive recommendations for transforming research and development incentives for antibiotics, vaccines, and diagnostics. A year after the Ebola outbreak was declared in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, this five-page advisory recommends that hospitals and health systems be aware of the situation and be prepared to take appropriate actions in the case that a person infected with the Ebola virus presents to a healthcare facility in the U.S. It details how hospitals, health systems, and clinicians should take steps to prepare, including reviewing the plans and protocols that were put into place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention during the 2014-2015 Ebola outbreak.
