Source: National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). Published: 10/2019. Given the recent introduction and outbreaks of emerging mosquito-borne diseases such as Zika, coupled with increased insecticide resistance in mosquitoes, Harris County, Texas, Public Health looked globally for innovative ideas and alternative methods to improve its vector surveillance and control services. This four-page report describes the department's success stories about efforts to protect residents from cases of introduction of new vector-borne diseases or outbreak of already existing diseases.
