This 18-page research paper assesses progress on antimicrobial resistance against the recommendations of the 2016 Review on Antimicrobial Resistance to identify opportunities for further action and key obstacles that need to be overcome. Although the Review has had a global impact as an advocacy tool and in helping to stimulate a number of new initiatives, there has been very little progress on its central and most expensive recommendations for transforming research and development incentives for antibiotics, vaccines, and diagnostics.
