You can now ask Alexa about a drug's specific effects
Drug and medical device database company First Databank just announced a partnership with Amazon's Alexa that will now allow consumers to ask the device more specific information about a drug and its side effects. The voice activated device became HIPAA compliant last year, which meant that health care companies could build tools that would allow people to access sensitive health information: One such partnership with a pharmacy chain helps remind people about when to take their medication. Today's news means that people can ask an Alexa device common drug-related questions, answers to which are in First Databank's databases, such as, "What is Tylenol," "What is the difference between Advil and Tylenol," and "What are the side effects of sertraline," which is a common antidepressant.
