Democratic lawmakers push to let foreign doctors help with Covid-19

In a new letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, top House Democrats are urging the Trump administration to allow foreign doctors to work in the U.S. They argue that a few policy changes will help bolster the U.S. response to the coronavirus, like expediting emergency visa processing for doctors who were expected to begin U.S.-based residencies on July 1. Visa issues for soon-to-be residents could leave major hospitals down 4,200 doctors, STAT recently reported.
