Inside STAT: Faces of health care workers on the front lines of the Covid-19 fight

“I STILL SHOW UP FOR WORK, HUNNY, EVERY SHIFT, BELIEVE IN ME.” — VENIECE, JANITORIAL SERVICES (GRAY MOONEN)
Health care workers who are on the frontlines of the Covid-19 outbreak have been bravely taking on the gargantuan task they've been handed. But some types of workers involved in patient care — janitorial staff, administrative clerks, dietitians, baristas, and transportation specialists — who have shown up to ensure hospitals run smoothly tend to get little attention. In a new First Opinion for STAT, Greg Moonen, a first-year family medicine resident at the University of Toronto, chronicles the stories of some of these essential workers, including Linda, a dietitian, who shares that people like her "are forgotten members of the team," but that she and her colleagues work hard to manage Covid-19 patients' nutrition and keep them alive. See her and other stories here.
