NYC Mayor Says Former City Leaders Lied About Toxic Air After 9/11 Attacks
On Tuesday, the city released about 170,000 pages of documents related to air quality after the destruction of the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. Mayor Zohran Mamdani declined to give the names of leaders he believed had lied. At the time of the attacks, Rudy Giuliani was mayor and Christine Todd Whitman was EPA administrator; both assured residents the air was safe to breathe, The New York Times said.
