This 65-page report summarizes a review of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)’s preparations for, immediate response to, and initial recovery operations for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria in 2017. The lessons learned from this review are driving targeted improvements within key areas of FEMA’s response and initial recovery operations. Findings from the 2017 hurricane season are also guiding FEMA’s ongoing efforts to help the whole community improve preparedness.

This 158-page report summarizes the presentations and discussions from a public workshop held on March 12-13, 2018, to address the infectious disease consequences of the opioid crisis. Increased rates have been reported for hepatitis C virus, hepatitis B virus, and HIV. Participants discussed strategies to prevent and treat infections in people who inject drugs, especially ways to work efficiently though the existing public health and medical systems.
