The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Government of Norway (Norad), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Grand Challenges Canada (funded by the  Government of Canada), the U.K. Department for International Development (DFID) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) warmly invite you to the eighth annual DevelopmentxChange event for Saving Lives at Birth: A Grand Challenge for Development. The event, in Washington, D.C. on July 26, will feature our current grantees and promising candidates for the Round 8 awards. This year, our program received an impressive set of nearly 500 applications.

The DevelopmentxChange is a key feature of the Saving Lives at Birth (SL@B) program, a community of diverse innovators who are reducing maternal and newborn mortality through advancements in science and technology, improved service-delivery models and novel demand-generation approaches. Over the last seven years, we have sourced and supported 115 distinct innovations and seen many receive global accolades for their achievements. We invite you to the DevelopmentxChange to meet some of the most cutting-edge innovators in the sphere of maternal and newborn health.

• Hear how our grantees are pushing the boundaries of innovation during our live Pitch Competition.
• Gain hands-on access to promising technologies and interventions during our open Marketplaceand learn how they are improving maternal and newborn health..
• Watch a performance of scenes from BUMP, this year's mainstage production of the EST/Sloan Project, inspired by Jorge Odón, the Argentinian car mechanic behind the SL@B-supported Odon Device. Following the production, join us for a panel of special guests who will discuss the inspiration behind the play, the role of innovation at the intersection of art and science, and the importance of partnerships to make it happen.
• Learn from speakers like The Honorable Joy Phumaphi, the Chair of the Global Leaders Council for Reproductive Health, Executive Secretary of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance, and the former Minister of Health of Botswana.
• Network with experts, partners, current SL@B grantees, and Round 8 finalists during ourreception.
