Deputy Director

NIAID is seeking an exceptional and visionary leader to be the deputy director, Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID). The deputy director shares full responsibility with the DMID director for providing scientific and management leadership in planning, conducting, and evaluating DMID’s extramural research program of national and international scope. The deputy serves as the principal advisor to the director and plays a lead role in coordinating DMID's research programs with internal and external stakeholders.

The position requires an individual with an M.D. or doctoral degree in a biological science and excellent knowledge of the advanced principles, theories, and practices applicable to medical and scientific areas of infectious diseases and/or their associated clinical manifestations.
