Children have unique physical, developmental, and mental health needs in all types of emergencies and disasters that require specific attention in preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. For the 2018 National Preparedness Month, CDC’s Jessica Franks, Robyn Cree, and Cindy Hinton discuss preparedness and response for children affected by natural disasters (including hurricanes), infectious disease outbreaks, and other emergencies. This includes information about children with special healthcare needs. Please join CDC’s EPIC Team online to explore this topic, discuss examples, and learn where to find more information.
The webinar is scheduled for September 19 at 1 p.m., ET. It will teach community leaders, family members, educators, and others who work with children how to prepare for the effect of public health emergencies on children, and how to minimize risk if an emergency occurs.
More information on this webinar, previous EPIC webinars, and information on CE units can be found on the EPIC Webinar website.
