Inside STAT: He wanted to see his cancer from the inside. With virtual reality, he can
After 69-year-old Bill Hobbs was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, researchers in Boston invited him to take part in a very early trial testing virtual reality technology. Physicians can use it to better visualize scans, and it also might give patients more insight into how their treatment works. Hobbs said he jumped at the chance to “walk through your own body" — and, specifically, to see how radiation is very precisely applied to the lining of his lungs. STAT's Dominic Smith dives into the research in a fascinating new video — watch here.
