The Role of Congregations in Public Health Emergencies
Congregations and faith communities can play a vital role in helping people survive and recover from disasters and public health emergencies. Helping with disaster relief, response, and recovery can be a deeply rewarding experience for congregations, too. Congregations can provide social capital, volunteers, food, shelter, emotional and spiritual care, financial assistance, risk communication, and many other forms of aid. Congregations, faith communities, and faith-based organizations are the backbone of the voluntary organizations active in disaster (VOAD) movement and vital emergency management partners.
Please join CDC’s Emergency Partners Information Connection for this webinar featuring guest presenter Peter Gudaitis from the National Disaster Interfaiths Network, Executive Director of New York Disaster Interfaith Services, and Chair of New York VOAD, on January 23 at 1 PM ET.
