WHO board convenes amid investigation into racism, sexism charges
The World Health Organization’s executive board is convening in Geneva today for its annual meeting, which comes as the U.N. health agency faces allegations of racism, sexism, and corruption. Anonymous emails sent to WHO leaders last year alleged that the organization systematically discriminated against African staff, misspent money for the Ebola response, and attempted to “stifle” inquiries into possible misconduct. Last week, WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus ordered an independent investigation into the claims. He'll address the board this morning.
