The FDA wants to meet with Juul and Altria

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb is pressing e-cigarette makers about whether they’re holding up their end of a pledge to address vaping among teens. Altria — the parent company of tobacco giant Philip Morris — has said it would pull some of its flavored e-cigs from shelves to address the issue. The company also pointed to cartridge-based products like Juul as a big part of the problem. Then Altria shelled out billions to buy a 35 percent stake in Juul in December — and is now helping the company expand its reach. In letters sent to Juul and Altria, Gottlieb called their actions “inconsistent” and asked for a meeting with both companies.
