Democrats hold hearings on protections for patients with pre-existing conditions
House Democrats are holding two hearings today on the Affordable Care Act and its protections for people with pre-existing conditions. The House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing will center around the Texas case to strike down the Affordable Care Act as unconstitutional — and the Trump administration’s decision to not fully defend the law in court. And in the Education and Labor Committee, lawmakers will hear from health policy experts, a March of Dimes leader, and a patient with cystic fibrosis about threats to people with pre-existing conditions.
On a related note: Health secretary Alex Azar is talking about the administration's drug pricing efforts today at the Association for Accessible Medicines meeting in New Orleans.
