New partnership to address chronic homelessness

Kaiser Permanente is partnering with the nonprofit Community Solutions in a new effort to tackle chronic homelessness. Mortality rates among the chronically homeless — who are unlikely to have access to or seek out routine medical care — are up to four times higher than that of the general population. The company will provide $3 million over a three-year period to help with Community Solutions’ initiative for better understanding the dynamics of homelessness. The partnership will focus on 15 communities where Kaiser Permanente operates, including various parts of California and the Washington, D.C., area.
