Statement on the Meeting of the International Health Regulations (2005) Emergency Committee for Ebola Virus Disease in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

This statement followed the meeting on June 14, 2019, of the Emergency Committee convened by the WHO Director-General under the International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005) regarding Ebola virus disease in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The committee decided that the outbreak is a health emergency in DRC and the region, but does not meet all three criteria for a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. It provided public health advice, including that at-risk countries should improve their preparedness for detecting and managing exported cases, as Uganda has done. (Text)
